Conveniently located in Bannantynes Health Club the clinic, which opened this summer, provides specialist assessments and tailored treatment programmes for all muscular, spinal and sports injury related problems.

Owned by husband and wife John and Terrianne Thomson, together they have more than 25 years extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of muscle and joint problems, and boast specialist knowledge in neck and back care. John Thomson is a diploma holder and a member of the McKenzie UK teaching faculty. During his career John has treated champion boxers Nigel Benn and Steve Collins.

The duo are delighted to be the first private clinic in Scotland to have received this accreditation and believe that patients will benefit from the specialist treatment McKenzie offers.

John Thomson commented, "The essence of the McKenzie system is to teach patients to treat and manage their own muscle and joint disorders. We encourage active patient involvement, we provide advanced hands on techniques to get to the root of the problem and then we give our patients exercises to do to help them recover on their own. Our ultimate aim is to ensure that the patient achieves optimal benefit without unnecessary treatment or added expense."

Thomson Physiotherapy offer flexible treatment times and can also provide home visits.
John and Terrianne Thomson (MCSP), both fully qualified chartered physiotherapists graduated from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and Bradford University, respectively.  John has the highest qualification awarded by the McKenzie Institute International and is a member of the UK teaching faculty.  Terrianne has a master's degree in Orthopaedic medicine.

The clinic has been awarded accreditation by the McKenzie Institute.  The McKenzie Institute is an international research and educational organisation concerned with the care of painful musculoskeletal dis-orders.   There are branches in 34 countries and the principals of examination and treatment that it recommends are practised extensively worldwide.

This international body is dedicated to researching the causes of spinal and extremity disorders and utilises the philosophies and treatments known throughout the world as the 'McKenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy'.
